NIKE A.I.R FOOTWEAR CONCEPTS

Brand Activation

THE BRIEF

Nike's A.I.R collection exists at the boundary of what manufacturing can currently produce. Designed through a co-creation process that stretched computational power, manufacturing capability and human craft to their furthest limits, the thirteen A.I.R prototypes represent a vision of athletic footwear grounded in specific athletes' performance realities but imagined beyond current production constraints. Territory was brought in to translate that vision into full CG — producing the definitive visual representation of shoes that could not yet be photographed in the way they deserved to be seen.

THE CREATIVE APPROACH

Territory built each shoe from the supplied designs, constructing and texturing CG models that matched the physical prototypes with exact accuracy — proportions, material behaviour, light interaction and surface detail all validated against the real objects in the exhibition space. Final renders of stills and animations were produced at 10K resolution, giving the work a physical presence and material fidelity that placed it on equal footing with the Centre Pompidou exhibition context.

The A.I.R project required Territory to operate at the intersection of its film and brand disciplines: the technical rigour of film-quality asset production applied to a commercial and cultural context. The shoes are simultaneously design artefacts, athletic tools and cultural objects — and the visual treatment had to serve all three readings simultaneously.

THE OUTCOME

The Art of Victory exhibition at the Centre Pompidou was one of the most discussed brand activations of the Paris Olympics period, positioning Nike at the intersection of sport, culture and art in the world's most prestigious contemporary art institution. Territory's 3D work formed the definitive visual representation of the A.I.R collection, appearing across the exhibition, campaign materials and media coverage worldwide. The project reinforced the ongoing creative partnership between Territory and Nike, extending it into new creative territory at the boundary of physical and digital craft.
